Is this a wheel bug in my kitchen?

Question: I found this bug in my kitchen. It has been upside down for three days. I put it right back and it twitches its leg a little but stays put. It has a leafy body with a mouth and face similar to a butterfly. What type of bug is this? Is it dangerous? I found it near a dead mouse.

Answer: This is a wheel bug. They are predatory, usually on other insects. It sounds like it is close to being dead if it isn’t moving much. They should not be handled since they are able to deliver a painful bite. Keep your eyes out for mice as they are very destructive, spread filth, allergens, etc.
