How do you know if you have been bitten by bedbugs?

Question: How do you know if you have been bitten by bedbugs?

Answer: It sometimes is very hard to specifically determine whether someone was bitten by bed bugs. Signs and symptoms can vary depending upon the sensitivity of someone who is bitten. Generally, the following are observed:

  • Itching, red welts or swelling that occurs in a cluster of 3-5 bites that form a zigzag pattern, often found on the parts of the body that are likely to be exposed during sleep - the hands, neck, face, shoulders, legs and arms. Since people will have various sensitivities to the bed bug’s bite, the size and intensity of the bite will likely vary.

  • Blood spots on bed sheets or pillowcases.
